 There are many reasons for Thai government to make it illegal for monks to own private properties. Not only it would decrease the chance of corruption in Buddhism organisation but it would also lead to the true Buddhism and, hopefully,  would make Thai people see the precious of Awaking rather than the jewel in this heavenly world.
